Amaravati: The people of 29 villages of Amaravati capital region will get special recognition as first residents.

The State government has already taken a decision towards the same and the CRDA has collected information from grass-root level through the survey for providing ‘First Resident cards’. The cards will be issued to nearly 1.3 lakh people of the capital region villages.

  • CRDA official says the cards are being readied on the lines of bank ATM cards, enshrined with personal details of the card holders
  • Around 25,000 land owners will be given cards as well as some other privileges

In future they will have priority in all government-related issues and special recognition will be provided as privilege status when the city to be constructed as one of the world's top 10 cities.

According to officials, the CRDA is making the arrangements to distribute the First Resident cards following the decision of the State government. One senior official said that cards are modelled on bank ATM cards and will be distributed soon.

He said the CRDA has collected the data from recent survey of State government. The government might give priority to the residents of villages in all the schemes , he said, adding that they would get special recognition in the capital.

The personal details of first residents will be printed on the card along with the title of Amaravati since villages soon to disappear, when the Amaravati capital city turns into an international city. As part of it, the huge number of people will migrate to capital city from areas across the country.

Similarly, businessmen have reached the capital region villages and opened small hotels. The State government employees who shifted from Hyderabad to Velagapudi secretariat are residing in the vicinity of Amaravati capital region. Likewise, the Amaravati capital will get huge migration from several parts of the country for various purposes including business and employment.

The NRIs, MLAs, MPs and political leaders bought house sites and lands in Amaravati region to settle down. Several prominent personalities have reserved the space for residential purposes and development will change the face of the villages.

Taking this into consideration, the State government decided to protect the significance of villagers who gave 33,000 acres of land for capital construction with broader interests in mind.

The government has recognised it's importance and made plans to give permanent privilege to the residents of the villages and land owners. The land owners all set to get some merit certificates, additionally, along with privilege cards.

Nearly 25,000 land owners would be given merit certificates. Vattikuti Venkateshwara Rao, native of Thullur village expressed happiness. “Its glad that government is going to treat us as privileged citizens and we seek some more special benefits for the residents exclusively” he added.
