Chittoor: In complete violation of the norms, a number of flexis have been erected at the entrance of the Zilla Parishad (ZP) Office for six months now.

Despite Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu giving instructions not to have any flexis in front of government offices, supporters of ZP chairperson Girvani Chandra Prakash had erected flexis of her and her husband Chandra Prakash much to the discomfort of visitors.

Understandably, the ZP Chief Executive Officer P Kishore is mum on taking action to remove the flexis despite clear cut directions from the Chief Minister regarding the same. Speaking to The Hans India on Tuesday, Municipal Commissioner Balasubrahmanyam admitted that District Collector Siddarth Jain had also given serious instructions not to keep any political flexis in contravention of the rules.

“It is mandatory on the part of those who erect the flexis to get prior permission from the municipal authorities and remit the prescribed fee. These flexi boards are liable to be removed at any point of time without prior notice. Unfortunately, certain political bigwigs and their followers are not cooperating in this regard,” he said.

Commenting on the flexis in front of the ZP office, the commissioner made it clear that nobody could oppose the removal of the flexis.

Not just at the ZP office, but at many places across the city, the landscape is dotted with political flexis belonging to the ruling party and officials are unwilling to rub them the wrong way.
