Kurnool: Superintendent of Police (SP) Ake Ravi Krishna said donating blood was akin to saving the life of a person and expressed happiness at students coming forward voluntarily to donate blood. The SP was speaking at a blood donation camp organised at Brindavan Institute of Technical Science (BITS) on Tuesday, in which he participated as the chief guest.

The SP said that blood donation can save many lives especially during emergencies and road accidents and added that many people had perished because they could not get blood in time. Stating that an entire family has to suffer if the head of that family dies in a road accident, the SP urged everyone to follow road safety rules and protect themselves.

He appreciated the Management and students of BITS for organising such a constructive programme on the occasion of police commemoration week. He urged the students to educate others about the value of blood donation and said that as many as 270 students from the college besides many more from the surrounding villages of Ulindakonda had donated blood. Ravi Krishna handed over the donated blood to the Red Cross Society.

Principal of BITS College Balaji, college staff Narayana Reddy, Ramesh Reddy, Shiva Prasad Reddy, Kurnool DSP DV Ramana Murthy, Rural Circle Inspector Nagaraj Yadav, Sub-Inspectors D Venkateshwara Rao, Chandrababu Naidu and Mallikarjuna and students of BITS and staff of Red Cross Society participated in the donation camp.
