Nellore: As part of beefing up security measures in the city after the recent bomb blast at the district Court, officials are planning to arrange CCTV cameras at all vegetable markets and other markets where there is a huge congregation of the public. The main vegetable market is located close to the district court buildings and is an easy hideout. Police suspect that those involved in planting the cooker bomb on the premises of the district Court made a getaway by merging with the crowd in the vegetable market.

Officials are planning to install 16 CCTV cameras in the main market. The CCTV cameras are expected to serve a dual purpose. Apart from monitoring the movement of suspicious characters, the CCTV cameras are expected to come in handy to detect traders at the market who are allegedly cheating consumers with low weights and measurements.

Although the Marketing department officials had arranged a ‘Dharma Kata’ at the market premises, no vendor is apparently respecting the rules and regulations of the market committee. Marketing officials think that the cameras would be useful for the officials for observing the sellers and how they behave with the buyers.
