Visakhapatnam: The Maoists on Wednesday took their ongoing war to a new level after the Bejjangi massacre in the Malkangiri forests by issuing threats to AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his family members.
“CM Naidu and his son Lokesh will have to pay a heavy price for the fake encounter of 28 Maoists in the Malkangiri forests,” warns a three-page statement issued by the CPI (Maoists) from Hyderabad.
The letter issued in the name of AP Committee of Maoist Party official spokesman Syam, said the Chief Minister and his son will pay heavily for the Monday’s attack carried out in AOB zone.
The party will also target other political leaders, it said. The release accused Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of having engineered the fake encounters to eliminate the Maoists so as to throw open the bauxite rich forests to the multi-national companies (MNCs) for exploiting the precious resources.
Syam alleged that the police bumped off a large number of party leaders with the help of a cover who indulged in food poisoning. He said the police fired upon the Maoists when they were in an unconscious state under the influence of food poisoning.
Syam warned that the party would punish the ex-Maoists who were doing harm to the party by joining hands with the police.
Lured by awards and rewards, the police were resorting to extra-legal killings involving Maoists, he alleged. Meanwhile, doubts were raised over the authenticity of the release with the use of a phrase ‘suicide squads’ as the Maoists will not believe in the elimination of their class enemies through suicide squads.
The security agencies handling the Maoist activities however feel that such words would have been used in a sheer desperation. The person in whose name the release was issued said to be non-existent in the Maoist party and the militants used a fictitious name in the note.
On the other hand, Civil Liberties activists express apprehensions that the letter might have been created by the police themselves to divert people’s attention from the ‘fake encounter’ of Maoists. Meanwhile, DGP Sambashiva Rao, talking to The Hans India on Wednesday evening, denied the charge that the police had indulged in fake encounters in Chhattisgarh forest area.
“We lost our commando and another one is battling for life. If it is fake, how could we too suffered losses,” he said.
