Nellore: ACB sleuths caught Duttalur Panchyat Raj Assistant Engineer (AE) D Ravi Kumar was caught red-handed by the ACB while accepting a bribe of Rs 55,000 from one L Peda Malakonda Reddy, Sarpanch of Byravaram, at BC colony in Udayagiri on Monday.
According to sources, Malakonda Reddy had completed works of SC sub-plan worth Rs 28 lakhs in the mandal and requested the Panchayat Raj DE Ravi Kumar to sanction the bills.
Ravi Kumar had demanded a bribe of 6 percent of the total amount of the works and asked for an upfront payment of Rs 55,000 initially. Malakonda Reddy approached the ACB and a trap was laid accordingly on Monday. A case has been registered against Ravi Kumar, said DSP T Prabhakar.
