Vijayawada: A Japanese team, led by Shinya Ejima, Senior Vice-President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday for entering into a pact with the AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) to study traffic regulation and transportation in Amaravati.

Later, Shinya Ejima and CRDA Commissioner Cherukuri Sridhar exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of the Chief Minister.

Naidu stressed that Japanese modern technology should be used for development of the State. The State was known for its vast water resources, surplus electricity and committed labour force.

Hence, the State as well as Japan would benefit from investments made in AP. “AP has cultural closeness with Japan. The spread of Buddhism can be attributed to Amaravati here,” Naidu observed.

Speaking on the occasion, Shinya Ejima suggested that suburban areas along the railway line should be developed to avoid the kind of problems that had occurred in Japan’s public transportation system.

Citing from studies on public transportation systems in Japan, he said that good results could be achieved when suburban mono trains and community buses were linked with trains and buses in the public transportation systems.

Further, it would be worthwhile to assess the energy requirements in advance while going ahead with government building complexes, Shinya Ejima said.
