Vizianagaram: Senior leader of YSR Congress party MLC K Veerabhadra Swamy resigned as district party president.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, he said that he quit the party post and appealed to party chief Y S Jagan to relieve him at the earliest.

“I have taken this decision due to some personal reasons but I will continue to serve as MLC.” said Swamy.

According to political circles, Botcha, is reportedly behind the exit of Swamy.

Since the latter was unable to do his party work independently due to dominance Botcha who has a strong hold in the region. In fact, Swamy who had a good hold over Vizianagaram town has joined YSRCP before 2014 elections and contested as MLA but lost to TDP.

Later, he was made the MLC along with district president and he was comfortable in the party until Botcha stepped in.

Interestingly, Botcha and Swamy were colleagues in Congress party but both had some differences for the past few years and were maintaining a distance of sorts.

Both the leaders headed two different groups and organised programmes on the strength of their own. But the followers of Swamy accuse Botcha for trying to isolate him in the party .

Above all, a recent incident is said to be the main reason behind Swamy’s exit. Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy participated in Yuvabheri programme in Vizianagaram on December 19 and it was single-handedly organised Swamy but the credit went to Botcha and his team.

Miffed with it, Swamy held a meeting with his followers and vented his agony. Meanwhile, the high command sensing some trouble, tried to pacify Swamy but he was reluctant to stay back.
