Vijayawada: The Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati (CCVA) CEO Dr E Sivanagi Reddy on Wednesday expressed concern over the pathetic and negligent condition of the 1188 AD inscription submerged in the waters of Pulichintala Hydro Electric Project at Kolluru village of Guntur district.

He said that a huge inscription dated 1188 AD traced in Bellamkonda mandal was in a state of neglect. He said the inscription recording donation of some lands to the Siva temple at Kolluru village was issued by Keta-II of the Kota Chiefs who ruled from Dharanikota (Amaravati) between 1182 and 1231 AD.

The 830 years old inscription, a testimony to the history of medieval Andhra country deserves protection. Dr Sivanagi Reddy lamented that the villagers and the cattle were rehabilitated but the historical vestiges were left uncared for.

He appealed to the State Department of Archaeology and Museums to rescue and salvage these archaeological remains for posterity by shifting them to the Boudhasri Archaeological Museum, Guntur, for proper display.
