Hyderabad: The Telangana and the AP governments on Wednesday locked horns over the distribution of Krishna water between two States before the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB). KRMB held a meeting which was attended by Irrigation officials of the two governments.

Telangana demanded that the board adhere to Bachawat Tribunal award which had allocated 811 tmc ft of water in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. It also objected to the board’s proposal to finalise working manual without deciding water sharing between two States.

The Telangana government also brought to the notice of the KRMB that the AP government was not releasing the legitimate share of water to Telangana from Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar projects.

The representatives of the two States argued strongly on the release of water during farming season. The Telangana government agreed to release of 5 tmc ft of water to AP.
