Nellore: In what appears to be a defending the examination centre, which was news for question paper leak, district education officer, M Ramalingam said that they have used Narayana School as centre and cannot take action against it on technical grounds. Moreover, he termed the incident as malpractice. Speaking to media persons, here on Thursday, the DEO categorically said, “It is a malpractice not a leak. We have initiated action as per law.”
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Says action cannot be taken against the school on technical grounds
- Teachers unions up in arms sacking of invigilator
- Accuses the government machinery of defending the school from being black listed
According to the norms, the education department blacklists the institution involved in paper leak and avoids selecting it as a centre for exams. However, if it is a malpractice, action could be taken against the staff members who involved in the incident irrespective of the institution.
It is being alleged that the government and its machinery has termed the incident as malpractice to save the institute from being blacklisted. Moreover, lack of announcement of any action against the institution even though the incident was seriously debated in the Assembly due to political reasons, is adding fuel to fire.
Even though it was established that employee of the school clicked snaps and forwarded it to other people, the administration sacked invigilator which irked the teachers. Now, they are up in arms against the government as an invigilator has been booked with criminal action.
It should be recalled that invigilator Mahesh was arrested on Wednesday which crated tremors in the teaching community even though he was only an instrument in the huge incident.
“We oppose decision of the government making the invigilator as responsible even though an employee of the school did all this. Without cooperation of the teachers they cannot conduct exams,” said a union leader on the condition of anonymity.
