Top priority to providing basic amenities in tribal areas: Minister
Minister for Mines and Geology RVSK Ranga Rao advised the Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) officers to conduct the governing body meet once in every three months. “Unless we meet frequently, it’s impossible to know the conditions and status of people here, so we should conduct governing body meet every three months” he said.

The minister along with ZP Chairperson Dr S Swathi Rani participated in the ITDA meet at Parvathipuram on Wednesday and said that he would take special care on tribal villages and try to bring enough funds to provide all basic amenities there.“I will talk to the Forest Department for laying roads through forest lands and will talk to Odisha to solve the long pending dispute regarding Janjhavathi reservoir dam.
The medical and health staff should visit all the hostels here and conduct medical checkups to the students,” he said.MLC Sandhyarani pointed out that no student has more than 10 per cent of haemoglobin and hence they should be provided nutritious food. ZP Chairperson Swathi Rani advised the officials to utilise all the buildings in rural areas which are not in use at present.Parvathipuram MLA B Chiranjeevulu appealed to the minister to increase the status of Area Hospital and asked to hike the number of beds to 200 for the benefit of people in the area.
There was also a complaint that infants were being provided sub-standard food at Anganwadi centres. Some medical officers were not following the timings and just going home whenever they want. MLA Pushpa Srivani alleged that funds were misused in the laying of roads in Basangi village and she demanded a probe into the issue. Following the complaint, the Minister directed the District Collector to conduct an inquiry to find out the facts.
Later, the minister handed over compensation to two women who were seriously injured in an attack by a wild bear.Collector Vivek Yadav, Project officer Lakshmisa and others have participated in the meet.
