Tirupati: South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager (GM) Vinod Kumar Yadav said that the development works at the south side of the Tirupati railway station may commence in this financial year. The GM stated that the TTD has agreed to give its land for south side expansion. “Chief Minister has accepted expansion proposals,” he added. The railway official said the High Court of Hyderabad has to give permission to take over the land belongs to the Endowments department.

“We have approached the High Court on this issue and very hopeful that a positive decision may come very soon,” he stated.
Speaking to the media after inspecting Tirupati railway station on Thursday, the GM said that an additional platform, circulating area and other amenities will come up on south side under the proposed plan.
The works at Tiruchanur railway station will also be taken up this year.He observed that the station requires lot of waiting area and the new building on the first platform is almost ready. The railway official said the existing RMS and parcel offices will be shifted to the new building. After shifting, additional space available will be used for passengers’ amenities like general waiting hall, drinking water facility and toilets.
Humsafar express from Tirupati to Katra will be introduced soon and more train services will be introduced between Tirupati-Chennai and Tirupati- Vijayawada, he said.TTD Chairman Chadalawada Krishnamurthy has felicitated the SCR GM and submitted a memorandum to him on various proposals which will be useful for the pilgrims. The TTD chief informed the GM that creation of new Balaji railway division will create employment opportunities for jobless.
He also requested the GM to develop the Tirupati railway station further by increasing the number of platforms to accommodate additional trains. Krishnamurthy made an appeal to the GM to take an initiative for introducing Shatabdi express type train between Tirupati and Vijayawada, Garib Rath express between Tirupati–Visakhapatnam and an express train between Tirupati-Mumbai.
He made a request for the extension of Simhapuri express up to Tirupati from Gudur. Guntakal Divisional Railway Manager Amitabh Ozha, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Ch Rakesh, RPF SP Elisha, Liaison Officer K Satyanarayana and Station Manager M Subodh Mithra were present.
