Eluru: Minister for labour Pithani Satyanarayana suggested that the bankers open bank accounts to every citizen so as to promote cashless transactions.‘Digi Dhan Mela’ organised by district lead bank Andhra Bank was inaugurated by the minister at TTDC complex here on Friday.Speaking on the occasion, the minister stressed the need to go for cashless transactions according to the changing scenario after demonetisation.
He said Krishna and West Godavari districts collectors designed a few apps to implement cashless transactions in these districts which were appreciated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also. He said the Central government led by Narendra Modi is looking up towards Andhra Pradesh, which has successfully implemented cashless transactions after the demonetisation of high currency notes.West Godavari district collector K Bhaskar said the Pay-app was created for the first time in the state in West Godavari and was later implemented on trial basis.
Now, this system is being implemented across the country, he added.According to the collector, soon ATMs with the biometric system would be available to the people, which requires no credit or debit cards to conduct transactions but thumb impression would do. He stated that the user just has to create the financial address to conduct the transactions through these accounts.
Later, minister Pithani Satyanarayana, city mayor Sheikh Noorjahan and collector visited the stalls arranged by UCO Bank, Canara Bank, State Bank of India (SBI), Andhra Bank, Punjab National Bank and Indian Overseas Bank. The minister distributed autos to the beneficiaries on the occasion. Earlier, minister garlanded the portrait of Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary and paid tributes to him. Andhra Bank assistant general manager M Bhaskar, lead district manager M Subrahmanyeswara Rao and others participated in the programme.
