Vijayawada: A road from Ambapuram to Rajeevnagar Janmabhoomi road at Ajith Singh Nagar in the outskirts of Vijayawada city is in bad condition. The road was laid under Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's brain child (Manasa Putrika) Janmabhoomi programme two decades ago and it was waiting for the development. Vijayawada Rural Mandal Parishad and Ambapuram Gram Panchayat had jointly laid the one-and-a-half kilometre road at a cost of Rs.10 lakhs.
Highlights:
- The road was expected to decrease travel distance from villages Ambapuram, P Nainavaram, Apparaopet to Vijayawada city.
- However, the one-and-a-half kilometre road is in poor state
The Ambapuram – Rajeevnagar road is under purview of Krishna Zilla Parishad and no officer has visited the road to inspect its condition so far. Interestingly, Janmabhoomi programme is reintroduced by the present state government, but no one has concentrate on the road development, local people allege. The road was expected to decrease travel distance from villages Ambapuram, P Nainavaram, Apparaopet to Vijayawada city. But the one-and-a-half kilometre road is in poor state. People in this area still use this road to reach Vijayawada city in less time.
Ambapuram village limit has extended up to Pipula Road junction in Ajith Singh Nagar of Vijayawada city. Most of the city people purchased sites, houses and apartments at Ambapuram village limits. They usually go to Ambapuram gram panchayat office seeking facilities like house tax, water tap connection, internal roads, drainage facility, electricity lights and other amenities. In this connection Ambapuram – Rajeevnagar road development is necessary and much needed.
At present the road is in bad condition and even unfit for travel on two wheelers. Bushes have been growing on both sides of road and local people have been dumping waste adjacent to the road and drainage is filled with silt. Hence, these villagers have to travel at least five kilometres distance to reach Ajith Singh Nagar outskirts of Vijayawada. Ambapuram village former sarpanch G China Rama Rao spoke to The Hans India and said “Rajeevnagar road condition has been informed to Gannavaram MLA Dr V Vamsi Mohan. MLA Vamsi gave assurance that the road would be developed with ZP funds and his constituency funds” he informed.
