CPM Andhra Pradesh state committee decided to create more awareness on losses caused to the nature in the form of water pollution due to aqua culture especially in Krishna and West Godavari district. The CPM had printed a booklet on Aqua culture titled ‘Janam Nettina Aqua Pidugu’. CPM state secretary Penumalli Madhu inaugurated the booklet at his party office in Vijayawada on Thursday.

Vijayawada: CPM Andhra Pradesh state committee decided to create more awareness on losses caused to the nature in the form of water pollution due to aqua culture especially in Krishna and West Godavari district. The CPM had printed a booklet on Aqua culture titled ‘Janam Nettina Aqua Pidugu’. CPM state secretary Penumalli Madhu inaugurated the booklet at his party office in Vijayawada on Thursday.
Later, he spoke to newsmen in the press conference arranged at party office. He said that several countries banned aqua culture because of pollution. But, the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is giving high priority to aqua culture and giving permissions to Aqua Mega Parks, he commented.
The CPM leader further said that Andhra Pradesh stood in top position in producing fish, prawn and aqua and about 75 percent of aqua produces have been exported only from Andhra Pradesh. He said the State is gradually converted towards Aqua culture and prawn culture from agriculture and farmers were losing their fertile lands due to water pollution, he felt.
He further said that people are opposing aqua culture and mega aqua food parks in fertile lands. Several villages are facing severe drinking water problem with aqua culture, he lamented. The state government is encouraging profitable aqua culture, processing unit managements but people are losing their jobs and migrating to other places, he said.
“CPM is organising so many programmes for educating people on threat from aqua culture even though the state government suppressing his party people by using police force” he said. Ruling party TDP is violating environment norms and giving permissions to aqua culture, he alleged.
The entire state was affected due to drought conditions and people were migrating to Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Kerala but the state government has not taken any action to overcome drought problem in the state, he said.
Regarding social media, Madhu condemned arrest of techie Ravi Kiran and he demanded his release immediately. The state government is playingdual role on social media and using social media to defame opposition parties and arresting concerned people, he alleged. CPM state secretariat member Y Venkateswara Rao and others participated in the book release.
