Visakhapatnam: Visakha District Council President of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) B Ch Masen demanded that the state government issue a fresh GO amending the payment of minimum wages as Rs 18,000 per month considering the growing prices of essential commodities in view.

The district council staged a protest in front of the Regional Labour Commissioner Office here on Friday demanding a hike in minimum wages. Speaking on the occasion, Masen alleged that the working class is suffering a lot as minimum wages are not being paid in proportion to the rise in essential commodities.

District additional general secretary B Venkata Rao informed that the tenure of the GO issued by the previous government in 2012 was completed by March this year.
