Proddatur MLA Rachamallu Sivaprasada Reddy, who was proceeding to Bengaluru with his family on Saturday, had a narrow escape when a lorry hit the car in which he was travelling at Namalagundu. Former Rajampet MLA Brahmaiah luckily escaped from a road mishap when his car overturned near Rajampet on Friday.

workOn May 5, an engineering student Y Nagi Reddy and two others were killed when a car in which he was travelling overturned at Yerraguntla. On the same day, three farm wers were killed when a truck knocked them down at Indiramma Colony in Mydukur. According to sources, 300 were killed and 2,030 injured in 1349 road accidents that took place in 2016.

From January to till date this year, 200 persons were killed and 600 suffered injuries in 445 road accidents in the district. Speaking to The Hans India, Deputy Transport Commissioner A Basi Reddy said most of the road mishaps were occurring due to negligence of drivers and drunken driving. He stated that 8 teams conducted survey on national highways and identified 39 dangerous spots on NH-40, 19 on NH-340, 63 on NH-63 and 47 on NH-716.
