Kurnool: A daily wage earner at Nandi Group of Companies was hacked to death by a psycho in the early hours of Thursday at Nandyal.

According to the available sources, Rajeshwar (50) a native of Nallagatla village in Allagadda Mandal was known to be eking a livelihood as a daily wage labourer at Nandi groups of companies.

It is said that Rajeshwar along with other lorry drivers and cleaners were taking rest at the rest room provided in the premises in Wednesday night. With them a psycho, Ashok, was also said to be sharing the room.

All of sudden a huge scream was heard by the lorry drivers and cleaners who are sleeping adjacent to Rajeshwar. By the time they woke up and realised what happened, they saw a man with stone attacking Rajeshwar on his head.

Before they could restrain the psycho, Rajeshwar was known to have breathed his last, revealed the source. The drivers and cleaners caught the psycho and informed the III Town police, it is said.

On learning about the incident, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Y Harinath Reddy and Three Town police rushed to the spot and took the scene under control. Reddy enquired about the incident with the co-staff while the Three Town police took the psycho into custody.

On interrogation Ashok said, “Some thieves tried to seize the amount I had with me. I could not spot them as the rest room was completely dark due to power cut. The thieves pelted stones on us and a stone might have hit Rajeshwar.”

However, police registered a case and took up investigation. The body was handed over to the relatives of the deceased after postmortem.
