Visakhapatnam: Rains continue to lash coastal Andhra Pradesh with the advancing of South-West monsoon during the last 24 hours.

Bobbili in Vizianagaram district received highest rainfall of 8 cm on Saturday, followed by Pathapatnam 7 cm, Merkamudidam 5 cm, Gajapathinagaram 4 cm, Gudur 4 cm and Garividi 3 cm. Even several parts of Rayalaseema received light showers.

Cyclone Warning Centre officials said the ongoing low pressure area now lay over northern parts of west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Bay of Bengal. It is expected to intensify into a well-marked low pressure in the next 48 hours.

After bringing mild to heavy rainfall for Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours, the system may weaken as it will move away towards north-east. But the rains will continue in all parts of the state under the influence of the onset of south-west monsoon.

Rains caused fall of temperature all over the state. The maximum temperature was limited to 36 degrees Celsius but Nellore registered the highest maximum temperature of the day of 38.1 degrees Celsius.
