They extolled the need for prestigious varsities to take up research projects on the concluding day of three-day meeting on animal science organised by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) in the Department of Science and Technology at GITAM University on Monday.

The Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) Professor Rene M. Borget headed the meeting. Noted scientists from different universities and Central Research Organisations participated in the meeting.

On the occasion, senior professor, department of animal sciences, school of life sciences, University of Hyderabad, Aparna Dutta Gupta was felicitated by meeting coordinator professor Ch Ramakrishna. Speaking on the occasion, Ramakrishna, explained to the visiting scientist that GITAM University has been marching ahead to reach global level, with innovative ideas in research in various thrust areas.

Aparna Dutta appreciated the efforts of the varsity in organising the event to the satisfaction of DST scientists. She pointed several highlights in research and advised the faculty to be specific in the objectives in their research project proposals. “The faculty should excel in research at par with teaching profession.

There was every need for the universities to take up prestigious research projects, in the much perplexed issues concerning to the society at large,” she noted.
