Anantapur: International Yoga Day was observed by the people and people’s representatives at the Police Parade Grounds here on Wednesday. Women Welfare Minister Paritala Sunitha, local MLA Prabhakar Chodwary and several other people’s representatives participated in the yoga exercises.

Speaking on the occasion, Paritala Sunitha and Prabhakar Chodwary stated that yogic exercises are the need of the hour and they are crucial to relieve mental stress and overcome the mundane.

They stated that one should transcend above modern day stress through practicing yoga. Yoga gives mental peace and keeps one physically fit. MLC Vennapoosa Gopala Reddy and Mayor Swaroopa and ZP Chairman Chaman Saab stated that yoga ensures complete health both physically and mentally and also spiritually.

RDOs Rama Rao and Malola led the participants in yoga exercises. Meanwhile, the students and staff of Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) participated in the yoga day celebrations. SKU rector H Lajapathi Rai speaking on the occasion said that yoga gives perfect health to body and mind and decreases stress in daily life.
