Vijayawada: National Democratic Alliance (NDA)’s ally Telugu Desam Party criticised Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu for his comments that seeking loan waiver has become fashion these days. Addressing a press conference at the Secretariat on Friday, Yanamala took exception to Venkaiah’s comments.

“It (loan waiver to farmers) cannot be a fashion but is a necessity,” Yanamala said. He also said Telugu Desam was the first party in the country which had implemented loan waiver scheme when TDP founder N T Rama Rao was the Chief Minister.
Addressing a meeting in Maharashtra, Venkaiah Naidu said that, “If one needs money we will help you and banks will help. But, seeking loan waiver has become a fashion these days,” he said.

However, Yanamala suggested to newsmen to seek Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s clarification on the comments he made during his recent visit to Kurnool district. The Chief Minister reportedly asked people not to travel on the roads built by his government or forgo pensions given by the TDP government if they did not like his government.

He also said he would not hesitate to ignore such villages that do not vote to TDP. When reporters sought Yanamala’s views on the Chief Minister’s comments, Yanamala said,“You can ask the Chief Minister on the comments. It is public money.”
