Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant P Madhusudan accompanied by his wife Gowri Annapurna took part in Lord Jagannath Ratha Yatra (Car festival). Attired in traditional costumes of the king, CMD of RINL performed ‘Chherapanhara’, the sweeping of the chariot with golden broom.

Visakhapatnam: Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant P Madhusudan accompanied by his wife Gowri Annapurna took part in Lord Jagannath Ratha Yatra (Car festival). Attired in traditional costumes of the king, CMD of RINL performed ‘Chherapanhara’, the sweeping of the chariot with golden broom.

Ratha Yatra, the most auspicious festival of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, was celebrated with fanfare and gaiety amidst chanting of 'Jai Jagannath' by the devotees and to the accompaniment of the music from mridang, cymbals and conches at Ukkunagaram (Steel Plant's township). A large number of devotees pulled the chariot along the streets of Ukkunagaram.

Director (Projects) PC Mohapatra, Director (Operations) DN Rao, Director (Commercial) P Raychaudhury, Director (Personnel) KC Das, along with their family members, offered prayers to Lord Jagannath.The evening was vibrant with colourful cultural programmes, Sambalpuri folk dance and Odissi dance organised to mark the festival in the township. The festival is a mixture of spiritual, cultural and social activities culminating with Samaradhana on July 5.
