In another case, the city police arrested one person on the charges of cheating and land grabbing. The Pothinamallyyapalem police on Saturday arrested Cherukuri Sudhakara Raju and charged him under various sections including cheating, land grabbing and indulging in fraud by selling government land to a private person.

Sudhakara Raju (45), a native of Hyderabad, was involved in 13 criminal cases (forgery and land grabbing) in Visakhapatnam city and he also is involved in land grabbing cases in Tirupati and Vijayawada cities.

Accordng to DCP (North Zone) Navin Gulati, accused Sudhakara Raju conspired with two others Ommi Dali Naidu and Gedda Lakshmi Ganeswara Rao and induced Putla Anil Kumar, native of Ponnur in Guntur district and his friends Kusampudi Rama Raju and Manthina Dasratha Maha Raju to purchase the lands in the city at cheaper prices.

The accused claimed that he owned 24 acres of land near Visakha Valley School (near Zoo Park) in the city and he also created forged documents and fake registration documents of the government land falling under survey number 124 in Visakha rural mandal.

Believing in Sudhakara Raju, Anil Kumar paid Rs 4.5 crore to Sudhakara Raju as advance to purchase the land. However, Raju failed to register the land in the name of Anil Kumar and refused to return the money.

Sensing that he was cheated, Anil Kumar has approached the P M Palem police on June 29, 2017 and lodged a complaint against Sudhakara Raju. Based on the complaint, ACP of Madhurawada K Nageswara Rao and Inspector of PM Palem K Lakshmana Murthy investigated the case.

During investigation, the police officials found that Sudhakara Raju forged all the land documents to cheat people and the entire 24.5 acres of land at the area was found to be government land. The police have nabbed Sudhakara Raju under Sections 420, 468, 471 R/W of IPC and Section 3 and 4 of AP Land Grabbing Act-1982, the DCP explained. Further investigation is on.
