In an attempt to create sensitisation on child marriages, child protection laws among the urban slum dwellers, a week-long Theatre for Development (TFD) campaign was launched in 20 highly-vulnerable areas in the city on Saturday.

Visakhapatnam: In an attempt to create sensitisation on child marriages, child protection laws among the urban slum dwellers, a week-long Theatre for Development (TFD) campaign was launched in 20 highly-vulnerable areas in the city on Saturday.

The initiative was a joint effort of Nature Organisation, Child Development Project and Children’s Future India.The cultural and art forms Kalajatha campaign focuses on child rights, protection and care taking, child labour, free education, protection of children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and the government schemes meant for uplift of children.

The teams led by field officers B Vijaya Kumari and Venlatarathanam performed at Kotaveedhi, Chilakapeta and Godarigothulu, Bukkavariveedhi, Beach Road and Kallupakalu. Several youth and community organisations took active participation in the campaign.
