Vundavalli, Gorantla set for face-off at Prakasam Barrage

Speaking to reporters in Anam Rotary hall here on Saturday, former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar said that he accepts the challenge of MLA Gorantla and thanked the MLA to for giving him an opportunity to discuss about the two irrigationprojects. He said that Gorantla should answer to his questions on the two projects.
“The spillway of Polavaram Project was constructed with less quality material and it developed some breaches. As per experts, small size of gravel was used in the construction of spillway and it will be washed away in the floods. Why the spill is having breaches when the government is saying that latest technology using in construction works,” he questioned.
He alleged that cofferdam works were taken up without conducting necessary soil tests. “Why the government prepared a detailed project report for PLIS, whileit is saying it is a temporary arrangement? Why the government issued GOs stating thatPLIS is aimed for domestic and industrial purpose and supply water to Krishna delta,” he wanted to know.
Vundavalli reminded that CAG also pointed out many lapses such as excesspayments etc and added that open discussion was an opportunity to the people as well as farmers about learn about the lapses of government.
