Visakhapatnam: As part of greenery development, Sri Varahalakshmi Nrusimha Swamy Devasthanam of Simhachalam and Naval Scientific Technological Laboratory (NSTL), have taken up plantation programme on Monday.

The Simhachalam Devasthanam officials in association with AS Raja Junior College and SVVP Junior College students taken up massive seed ball casting on the Simhagiri hills. Braving the rain, the students enthusiastically participated in the programme.

Simhachalam Devasthanam Executive Officer K Ramachandra Mohan inaugurated the programme. Mango, Almond, Black Berry and other 28 varieties of fruits, flowers and avenue seeds packed with the cow dung have been thrown covering the hills near Simhadri Appanna temple.

Speaking on the occasion, the Executive Officer said with the pack of seeds and cow dung, the seeds would not be damaged and safe from pests. Once the rain water mixed with the seed balls, the sapling would be generated on the hills, he maintained. The executive officer congratulated the students and thanked the college managements who participated in the programme.

At another programme, as part of Go Green-Grow Green initiative, the NSTL organised tree plantation programme at its campus on Monday. The NSTL taken up the programme for the last one week and concluded on Monday.
