Addressing a press meet at Anam Rotary Hall here, Arun Kumar alleged that the attitude of the state government is giving rise to many doubts about the completion of the project. He alleged that Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (PLIS) and Purushottapatnam Lift Irrigation Schemes were designed only to get kickbacks as the government is saying that the two lift schemes are not part and parcel of Polavaram project.

So far, one lakh cubic metres of earth works were completed as against of 16 lakh cubic metres as per a report given by the central committee which visited Polavaram project, he noted.

The Telangana government constructed Palamur-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme because of PLIS, he alleged and criticised the government for constructing PLIS without prior permission from respective departments including Central Water Commission.

He said because of former chief ministers Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy and N Kiran Kumar Reddy, water for cultivation was supplied to 14 lakh acres between 2004-2014. The existing irrigation projects were constructed under the Congress rule, he added.

Arun Kumar repeated his charge that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had mortgaged the interests of the state to Telangana government to come out from a case, which should be condemned by all. The recent challenge for an open debate on Polavaram and Pattiseema projects thrown by Rajamahendravaram Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary was cancelled on the pretext of police permission as there was no one to speak facts, he said.
