When police tried to detain the protesting activists, Rama Naidu said that they are ready to go to jail for the sake of farmers and went to MR Palli police station in a procession where they courted arrest. About 80 activists were arrested and later let off on self-bonds.

Speaking on the occasion, Rama Naidu lashed at the central and state governments for their utter failure in coming to the rescue of the farmers facing many problems including lack of remunerative price, drought etc. He said the six BJP ruled states in the North resorted to repressive measures against the farmers when they were up in the arms against lack of remunerative price for their produce instead of taking proper steps to save the farmers in distress.
