Srikakulam: The Srikakulam Industrial Safety and Security Cooperative Organisation (SISSCO) has been formed by the managements of industrial units to protect industrial safety and to face any eventuality in industrial areas at Pydibhimavaram in Ranasthalam mandal in Agency.

With the formation of SISSCO, it is easy to face disturbances in industry and to mitigate damage during fire accidents and to save lives. About 50 industries in Ranasthalam and Laveru mandal within the 20 km radius will come under SISSCO. If any incident occurred it is very difficult to reach from district headquarters as it is 40 km away from industrial area.

To overcome the problem, a fire station has been established in 2014 with the coordination of industries’ managements since then damages due to fire mishaps are considerably mitigated.

SISSCO has set up an office in AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) building at Pydibhimavaram and renovated with Rs 25 lakh of which Rs 20 lakh was provided by industries and Rs 5 lakh by donations from local elders. Two ambulance vehicles arranged here by Mylon and Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals by investing Rs 15 lakh to provide medical aid to victims in accidents.

The two ambulances are utilized for industrial purpose and serve villagers in emergency. In addition to it another two fire tenders arranged at SISSCO by investing Rs 80 lakh. These vehicles are also useful to control fire accidents in industries and surrounding villages as well.

Along with all the facilities, a police outpost was also set up to control law and order in industrial area. “We are conducting discussions frequently at SISSCO office with all stakeholders over required measures for improvement of its functioning from time to time,” said SISSCO secretary G Gopala Krishna Reddy and treasurer Venkata Reddy of Aurobindo and Lantek companies.
