- Police intervene to disperse students
With the demand to create reservations in education, medical as well as at other sectors, the All India Students Federation (AISF) and All India Youth Federation (AIYF) took out a bus yatra, with Kanhaiah Kumar being the chief guest.
After concluding the meeting and while leaving on a country tour, a constable in civil dress intervened and urged permission to ask a question to Kanhaiah Kumar. When the constable raised the slogan ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, enraged AISF and AIYF students pounced on him and attacked with sticks and chairs.
A battle like situation took place at the meeting place. Police intervened to disperse the students and rushed the constable to police station.
The AISF and AIYF students could not digest the slogan as the slogan was said to be of ABVP. With this the students attacked on the constable, it is said. Later Kanhaiya Kumar was whisked away from the place with tight security.
Earlier, addressing the meeting, Kumar charged BJP government with failing to mitigate drought conditions prevailing in the district. “Instead of taking steps to overcome the drought situations, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is making tours to foreign countries,” he said.
The former JNU president said that several untoward incidents were taking place in the country on the name of Gau Rakshak. “Narendra Modi is provoking communal violence among the country men,” he alleged.
