Eluru: In line with the ongoing agitations, Kapu leaders and cadre at Koderu village in Achanta mandal of West Godavari district took up ‘Jala Deeksha’ demanding the government to permit the Mudragada Padmanabham’s padayatra.

The plunged into river Vasistha semi-naked and held protest for about an hour. They alleged that government denied permission to the padayatra, even though even assurances were given that it would be carried out peacefully.

They found fault with police arresting Kapu Association president Chinamilli Venkatarayudu in Bhimavaram, who was on indefinite fast for three days. They offered prayers to give good sense to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to include Kapus in BC list.

Kapunadu leaders Ganesula Nageswara Rao, Ganesula Sattibabu, Nimmakayala Gangaraju and others participated in the Jala Deeksha. Meanwhile in Peravali, Kapu leaders and cadre staged a protest. Kapu Association mandal president Kacharla Sitaram Prasad called on the Kapu people to support the Mudragada’s agitation.
