Minister launches health programme for Adivasis

Guntur: Social Welfare Minister Nakka Anand Babu on Tuesday launched Adivasi Health Programme in the tribal welfare department hostel at AT Agraharam in Guntur city.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the government is aiming to provide better healthcare to inmates of tribal welfare department hostels in the state. If the students in the hostels are healthy, they will excel in sports and education, he said and added the district administration will conduct medical tests and recommend them for higher treatment if they suffer from any deadly diseases. A volunteer in the hostel will supervise the health condition of students residing in the tribal welfare hostel.

The Minister also inaugurated Sparsh Mobile app. He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the website on Aadivasi Health Programme on the occasion of the World Adivasi Day on August 9. He reminded the steps taken by the government for the welfare and development of tribal students and sanctioning of scholarships and fee reimbursement besides giving skill development training programme.

Later, the Minister planted saplings on the hostel premises. Special Commissioner for Tribal Welfare Department KT Padmaja appealed to tribal students to avail the facilities provided by the government. She said Adivasi Health Programme launched by the government is useful for tribal students to improve their health condition.

She directed the higher officials to get feedback on the health condition of students residing in the hostels. MLA Modugula Venugopala Reddy, MLC AS Radhakrishna, Tribal Welfare and Gurukulam Secretary D Vasu, and DSP KGV Saritha were present.
