Vijayawada: Condemning the derogatory remarks of Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Minister for Water Resources Devineni Umamaheswara Rao said that the election commission should take the case as suo motu.

Speaking to media persons in Vijayawada on Saturday, the minister said as per Peoples Representation Act of the constitution, instigating people for violence is an offence. He said that Jaganmohan Reddy made the derogatory remarks in a public meeting organised in view of Nandyal byelection. He said that the Telugu Desam party would lodge a complaint to the Election Commission, if the EC does not take the case as suo moto.

The minister alleged that the YSR Congress party leaders are trying to stall the ongoing development works including irrigation projects by filing petition in courts and green tribunal.

He said that the state government completed the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme and protected the crops in Krishna delta by lifting Godavari water. He said while irrigation experts and leaders of other parties are praising the efforts of government in completing the irrigation project the YSR Congress leaders are trying to create hurdles.
