Amaravati: The State government has dropped disciplinary action against TTD retired deputy executive officer A Vasudevan and retired superintendent P Seshadri, popularly known as Dollar Seshadri, in a case related to misappropriation of 300 coins of 5 grams gold dollars at Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam.

The government issued two separate orders on Friday dropping cases against Vasudevan and Seshadri. The gold dollars missing case came to light in 2007 and based on the report of TTD's Chief Vigilance and Security Officer B V Ramana Kumar, who conducted the probe, the TTD terminated the services of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) P Seshadri and suspended three other officials - R Prabhakar Reddy, special grade deputy executive officer (local temples), A Vasudevan and superintendent of Peishkar office E Ramachandra Reddy.

The vigilance report had charged all of them with gross dereliction of duty.Later the case was handed over to CID, which has registered criminal cases against several TTD officials, including Seshadri, who was continuing as OSD after his retirement in 2006. One of the accused in the case Venkatachalam, who was working in the gold dollar sales wing at Tirumala temple,
was sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment by a court and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.
