A new milestone in nation’s history: Chandrababu Naidu

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh is on threshold of creating history. It has a set a target of completing 28 irrigation projects in 100 days. “Completion of irrigation projects in record time would be a new milestone in the history of the nation,” said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Reviewing the Neeru-Pragati with officials during a teleconference from his residence at Vundavalli on Monday, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over increasing water levels in the Krishna river. Despite water levels decreasing in Godavari, Krishna water is a good sign,

the CM said and added that 10 tmc ft of water reached Srisailam in the last three days. He asked the officials to be alert for there is a possibility of heavy rains in the next few days. He wanted the officials to complete construction works of 11,000 check dams immediately.

The Chief Minister also reviewed Polavaram project works by reminding the deadline to officials as water release must become a reality by 2018.

Hoping that there would be 30 per cent growth rate in horticulture sector, Chandrababu Naidu pointed out that the state has reached 11.72 per cent growth rate due to 27 per cent growth in agriculture and allied sectors.

The CM directed the officials to make steps to ensure minimum support price for the farmers of onion and chilli. The officials were instructed to provide input subsidy to farmers in time.

The coordination is required among the departments, he said. The Swachh Andhra programmes should be conducted across the state from September 15 to September 30, the CM ordered. He told the officials to encourage citizens by giving awards to those who worked effectively in 11 categories and 40 sub-categories.
