Addressing a review meeting on road safety at Secretariat, Chandrababu Naidu said road safety rules must be implemented strictly to reduce the number of road accidents in the States. “Driving without wearing helmet and seatbelt leads to deaths in road accidents. The rule over wearing helmet and seatbelt is aimed for the protection of people and this can be communicated to the public effectively,” he said.

He warned officials that he would not hesitate to take action against those officials who were negligent in delivering their duties even as the road safety was the most important issue.


The Chief Minister announced that Rs 10 crore would be released to procure equipment using as part of road safety measures by transport and police officials.

Chief Minister said stringent action need to be taken over the persons who drive vehicle in inebriated condition. “Vehicles check once in a week should be made compulsory for effective implementation of road safety measures and to reduce accidents,” he said.
