Both groups have complained against one another to the police and police registered cases.According to information, 13 persons were injured in a group clash between Chiranjeevi fans and Dalit youth in Uradallapalem village of Attili mandal on Thursday late night, over the utilisation of R and B land site.
According to eyewitnesses and police, the Chiranjeevi fans have constructed a park in the R and B site on the road margin in the village one and a half-decade ago. The park had witnessed growth of bushes after it was left without maintenance. Two months back, the Chiranjeevi fans cleaned the park to utilise it. The park was situated adjacent to SC Colony. The SC colony youth approached the fans and asked for half of the site to conduct their activities. However, the fans had agreed to give quarter part of the part.
There were verbal arguments over this issue one week ago. On Thursday night, Bhavani devotees started Bhajan programme and arranged Nippula Gundam (burning cinders) at Saibaba temple in the village. The devotees who visited the event had parked their vehicles in the vacant site of R and B. The Dalit youth who already erected a flex board of Dr BR Ambedkar told the vehicle owners not to park the vehicles on their site as they have to conduct programmes.
The Chiranjeevi fans intervened and asked the Dalits why they have installed the Ambedkar flex as a statue of him was nearer to the Park. This has led to heated arguments between both the groups and led to stone pelting which unabatedly went on for some time.
On knowing of the incident, Attili police led by Chintalapudi CI Ch Rambabu reached the spot and brought the situation under control after hectic efforts. In these clashes, seven Chiranjeevi fans and six Dalit youth were injured and were admitted in Tanuku Government Hospital.
Meanwhile, the district SP M Ravi Prakash appointed Kovvuru DSP N Venkateswara Rao as inquiry officer into the incident. The Dalits have filed cases under SC, ST Atrocities Act against seven Chiranjeevi fans who in turn had filed a counter case against the Dalits. Police on Friday evening removed the Ambedkar flex board and handed it to the mandal tahsildar safely. The R and B officials have taken over the vacant site that belongs to the department and put a board stating that violators will be punished.
