Six of the 16 top IT companies that participated in the Blockchain Business Conference will open their branches in Visakhapatnam, said Minister for IT Nara Lokesh while briefing media after conclusion of the two-day conference, here on Tuesday.

Stating that the meet was a success, Lokesh said representatives from world’s top companies participated in the conference and of them six have decided to open their centres in the city. He said IT sector would be developed in phases and the city would be centre for blockchain technology, cloud computing, fintechnology, cyber security and internet of things.
``The government will also acquire lands belonging to Visakhapatnam Port Trust and other public sector companies to create more space for IT companies in the city,’’ the minister said.
Pressure is being put on the land allottees of IT SEZ to start their works as scheduled failing which the lands would be allotted to other companies, he warned.

Conduent Inc, a Fortune 500 company has agreed to create 5,000 jobs in the state and the cabinet will approve proposals by another company which promised to create another 5,000 jobs, he said.
Special chief secretary and IT advisor to chief minister JA Choudhary said eight startup companies are opening their centres in Visakhapatnam to extend IT support to micro, small and medium scale industries. Of them, three each are from Chennai and Bengaluru and two from Mumbai.
