Seven criminals arrested
Urban police arrested a team of five inter-district criminals and confiscated two wheelers, laptops and ganja all worth Rs 4 lakh here on Sunday. Urban Superintendent of Police Ch Vijaya Rao produced the criminal gang, who were also involved in one murder case and one attempt to murder case, along with a large number of dacoity, robbery, theft cases, before the media.

The gang members committed crimes in the recent months on Guntur-Vijayawada highway. K Yehova (20), G Venkatesh (20), D Nagaraju (23), T Rajesh (22), SK Nasiruddin (18), along with other six members, who are still at large, and were involved in many crimes for the past six years.
All the 11 members of the gang were convicted and served the prison sentence earlier but still indulging in the criminal activities, the SP said. The arrested criminals confessed to their involvement in 11 cases.
The Guntur crime police arrested two notorious chain snatchers N Mariya Babu (36) and GC Tirupataiah at gold market area here on Sunday. Mariya Babu is an habitual criminal and convicted a few times earlier, the SP said and added that he allured his friend Tirupataiah into crime and both of them were involved in many thefts ever since.
Police seized gold worth Rs 3.lakhs from their possession. Ch Vijaya Rao conducted councelling for the 360 rowdy sheeters and warned them with prosecution if any one of them repeats the criminal activities yet again.
