Vizianagaram: Come Karthika Masam, people venture out to orchards and picnic spots to enjoy with families, relatives and friends. Sea shore areas, villages near by rivers and hill stations are flooded with the people during this month.

Karthika Masam is the best month to organise re-union meetings. Old students, pensioners, housewives, students, traders, revenue officers, panchayat raj officers, auto unions are organising such meetings and having a gala time with their near and dear ones. Thotapalli, Thatipudi, Gumpa, Chintapalli, Bobbili, Punyagiri and some other places are attracting huge public on Sundays. The organisers are conducting dance, song and sports competitions for men, women and children.

The parents of brides and grooms also attending such picnics to search for alliance for their children. Kapu Samajika Vana Samaaradhana, Kamma, Reddy, Vysya, Brahmin and other communtiies are organising outings.

They are inviting prominent persons of their caste as the chief guests K Narasinga Rao, Telugu Yuvatha district president, said: “I have been attending more than 10 picnics this month. Our youth wing organised some programmes and I was invited by some other programmes organised by others too. I have some other programmes to attend next week.”
