Visakhapatnam: The Port City has many firsts to its credit, and it added another feather to its cap with ‘Sounds on Sand’ music festival which began here on Saturday at the RK Beach.

The much-hyped event began with more than hour-long performance of music composer Baiju Dharmajan and singer Vijay Hegde. Later, a workshop for local artistes with the popular singers and musicians was held.In the evening, the local band ‘Echo & Khairo’ pumped up the spirits of audience with their stunning tunes.

And then, the moment has come for the crowd to welcome one and only Usha Uthup who enthralled Vizagites and tourists with her crooning.“I never expected this kind of concerts will take place in my city.

It’s a wonderful experience,” shares Arun, who loves listening to music. Later, Leslie Lewis, too, performed. The two-day festival is aimed at providing platform to local bands and artistes to showcase their talent. AP Tourism and the district administration are organising this event.
