Two of family die as container rams car
Two of four family members were killed and two others were seriously injured when a cars container rammed into a car on National Highway near Sidhantham Bridge in Penugonda mandal on Thursday.
Eluru: Two of four family members were killed and two others were seriously injured when a cars container rammed into a car on National Highway near Sidhantham Bridge in Penugonda mandal on Thursday.
According to police, Kogati Srihari (48) of Govindaraopeta village in Jayashankar Bhupalapalli district of Telangana, along with his wife Jayalakshmi, sons Praneeth and Gowtham went to Mandapalli in East Godavari district to offer prayers at Mandeswara Swamy (Sanisvaralayam).
After offering prayers and performing Abhishekam to Lord Shaniswara, the family members were returning in a car to Govindaraopeta village. When the car they were travelling reached near Agriculture Marketing Committee check-post on National Highway near Sidhantham Bridge, a container going from Chennai to Patna, lost control, rammed into the divider and jumped on to Haribabu’s car.
As the container’s front wheels were almost on the Haribabu’s car, the inmates could not come out. The local people and the on-duty police personnel immediately reached the spot and after hectic effort, brought all the inmates out. The seriously injured four persons were sent to Tanuku hospital in ambulance.
The family head Haribabu and his elder son Praneeth (23) succumbed to injuries in the Tanuku Hospital while his wife Jayalakshmi, and Gowtham were undergoing treatment at the hospital. Palacole Rural CI Rajanikumar visited the spot. Penugonda Incharge SI T Srinivasa Rao registered a case.
