Amaravati: Minister Nara Lokesh sought the cooperation of members in the House for the State development. “I am the youngest person holding Panchayat Raj Minister portfolio till date,” observed the Minister in the AP Legislative Council on Wednesday while giving reply to short discussion on the MNREGA works.
As he stated these words, the entire House appreciated him. He requested the House to cooperate with him for the state development. The government has been giving seven-star rating to each village of 12,918 in the State based on power, LED bulbs, supplying of protected drinking water, LPG, individual household toilets, drainage system, CC roads and other infrastructural facilities apart from generating at least Rs 10,000 per each family per a month, explained Lokesh in the House.
He said the Opposition YSRCP wrote letters to Central government to stop the funds relating to the MNREGA works which caused delay in giving wages to workers. MLC Srinivas Reddy pointed out the government had diverted MNREGA funds at some areas and corruption involved at other places.
He mentioned in the Council that about Rs 1 crore corruption took place at Nallajerla in West Godavari district. Srinivas said that more than Rs 421 crore wages of MNREGA were pending related to six months. He demanded to release the wages as early as possible.
Another MLC Ch Rajendra Prasad stated the YSRCP leaders should withdraw their letters written to the Central government against the State on MNREGA. Otherwise, Rajendra Prasad warned that he would write letters to the Central government behind the motivation of YSRCP leaders.
A total of 13 members including MVVS Murthy, Somu Veerraju, Samanthakamani, Katti Narasimha Reddy, Thippe Swamy, Angara Rammohan and Dorababu spoke in the short discussion.
