West Godavari district has bagged four medals in Andhra Pradesh State Sub-Junior, Junior, Seniors Weightlifting Championship on the first day on Friday.
Eluru: West Godavari district has bagged four medals in Andhra Pradesh State Sub-Junior, Junior, Seniors Weightlifting Championship on the first day on Friday. The championship was started here on Friday after the formal inauguration of the championship by District Collector K Bhaskar. Players from 13 districts are participating in the championship in various categories. West Godavari district girls and women showed their supremacy in the championship on the first day in 48 kgs and 44 kgs category.
In 44 kgs girl’s category, KVL Pavani Kumari of Visakhapatnam won gold medal by lifting 55 kgs in snatch category and 70 kgs weight in clean and jerk category by lifting overall 125 kgs. B Jyothi of Kadapa won silver medal by lifting 50 kgs in snatch and 63 kgs in clean and jerk, totalling 113 kgs. N Satyavathi of West Godavari stood in third place with 47 kgs in snatch, 61 kgs in clean and jerk, totalling 108 kgs.
In 48 kgs girl’s category, S Pallavi of Vizianagaram bagged gold medal by lifting 50 kgs in snatch, 63 kgs in clean and jerk, totalling 113 kgs. K Siva Kumari of West Godavari district got silver by lifting 47 kgs in snatch, 60 kgs in clean and jerk, totalling 107 kgs. N Lakshmi Kala of Kadapa stood in third place by lifting 43 kgs in snatch, 60 kgs in clean and jerk, totalling 103 kgs.
In juniors, 48 kgs girl’s championship, KHNBS Manikanteswari of West Godavari district bagged gold medal by lifting 62 kgs in snatch, 69 kgs in clean and jerk, totalling 131 kgs. KVL Pavani Kumari of Visakhapatnam got silver medal by lifting 55 kgs in snatch, 70 kgs in clean and jerk, totalling 125 kgs. L Anuradha of Vizianagaram stood in third place by lifting 50 in snatch 72 in clean and jerk, totalling 122 kgs.
In seniors, 48 kgs women’s category, KHNBS Manikanteswari of West Godavari district bagged gold medal by lifting 62 kgs in snatch, 69 in clean and jerk, totalling 131 kgs. L Anuradha of Vizianagaram won silver medal by lifting 50 kgs in snatch, 72 kgs in clean and jerk, totalling 122 kgs. B Jyothi of Kadapa lifted 50 kgs snatch, 63 kgs in clean and jerk, totalling 113 to take the third prize. The championship will continue for two more days at the indoor stadium here.
