Tirupati: Anantapur Range DIG J Prabhakar Rao has directed the police officials to intensify the visible policing for maintaining law and order in the temple city. The DIG held a crime review meeting with police officials under the limits of Tirupati Urban at Police Guest House here on Thursday.

Addressing the media after the review meeting, the DIG informed that he has instructed the Station House Officers (SHOs) to intensify night patrolling for maintaining law and order. He made CIs responsible for preventing crime in their respective police stations. Rao further said instructions were given to keep a watch on habitual offenders and to give wide publicity about Whatsapp number for public access.

After the Yerpedu accident, the DIG said Urban police took several safety measures to bring down the road accidents on highways and set up barricades at danger points. He warned to take stringent action against criminals, who are disturbing peace in the society.

“As part of intensifying security measures, the police officials are advising the liquor shop owners, hoteliers and business establishments to install CCTV cameras,” he added.

The DIG explained crime rate has come down in Tirupati after patrolling intensified and stated the accused involved in 8 murders were arrested. Tirupati Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty, ASPs Muralikrishna, Swamy and Srinivasulu, DSPs Muni Ramaiah and Eshwar Reddy and CIs were present.
