: Visakha Container Terminal (VCT) was awarded ‘container terminal of the year’ award at East Coast Maritime Forum-2017 in Kolkata. Visakha Container Terminal won the award for its proactive measures undertaken to improve efficiency and considering the overall performance during the year.

- Located on the centre of the East Coast of India, VCT is ideally located to cater to its vast hinterland of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, North India and West Bengal.
- With excellent rail and road connectivity, it is an ideal alternative especially for shipments to and from Far East and South East Asian regions to Delhi and other nearby ICDs of Hyderabad, Nagpur and Raipur
The award is judged on the parameters like the operational performance, efficiency parameters, infrastructure and customer service. Visakha Container Terminal initiated several steps to increase the overall efficiency of the terminal which include paperless documentation process as part of 'ease of doing business' and upgrading the infrastructure to cater to the growing container traffic.
The VCT is the first port in the country to receive Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification from Indian customs. The Visakha Container Terminal was set up under the aegis of Visakhapatnam Port Trust as a joint venture between DP World and J M Baxi Group and commenced operations in 2003.
