Vijayawada: Here good news for residents of Vijayawada. Now, the citizens can spend their evenings with more entertainment and fun at Bhavani Island in river Krishna. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate multimedia laser show on water screens integrated with musical dancing fountain and development works at Bhavani Island on Monday at 6 pm.

As part of promoting more tourist attractions in Krishna river course area in the limits of Amaravati capital and Vijayawada city, the tourism department has successfully completed the water tourism project with a cost of Rs 16 crore.

Especially the upstream area of Prakasam barrage assumed significance after the area was selected for Amaravati capital location. The visitors’ number has increased abnormally from various parts of state to the tourist attractions.

But the visitors including employees who shifted from Hyderabad are also getting bored due to lack of entertainment facilities in the city. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu himself expressed similar feeling some days ago with media by expressing displeasure about lack of entertainment facilities.

Following the Chief Minister’s directions, the State government has initiated several steps towards developing tourism facilities. The special task has also been given exclusively to IAS officer Himanshu Shukla who is director of tourism department. As part of it, the tourism department has constructed multimedia laser show and musical water fountain within a short span of time.

The musical fountain has been designed with a height of 40 meters and length of 75 meters. The three water screens and three projectors with a capacity of 20,000 lumens will be fixed for multimedia show. As many as 452 different colour lights are setup in the fountain. Besides, 118 swings have also been fixed to the fountain.

Speaking to The Hans India, Tourism Department Director Himanshu Shukla said the musical dancing fountain is the first of its kind in the country, having three water screens for laser show and multimedia shows. The state government has spent Rs 16 crore on the project, he said.
