Vijayawada: In a big set back to the Andhra Pradesh government, the Centre turned down the proposal of setting up rail university as the same has already begun in Vadodara, Gujarat.

In his written reply in Rajya Sabha on Friday, Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had sought the establishment of the railway university in the state.

However, the university is underway in the Gujarat state. The Centre would keep the AP government's proposal in view as and when it is required for setting up of an additional railway university in the future
